What we devote ourselves to

What Is the Infinite Heart

A contemplative cultural platform devoted to witnessing the indwelling well of love and intelligence within us, and to the ways that presence enlivens our life.

Also in What Is the Infinite Heart

There is an indwelling well of love and intelligence within each of us.

As we deepen our intimacy with this presence, we find God and discover more fully who we are.

The Infinite Heart is devoted to exploring how this presence organizes our lives and enlivens the ways we create, relate, celebrate, care for ourselves and the world, lead, and remain present to the inner connection that sustains us.

Conscious expansion is not superiority, and it is not self-repair, but the gradual recognition of a presence that was already here, and the willingness to let life be organized from it.

The origin

It began by noticing what no one was writing about.

Years ago I started a platform called Ordinary Humans Doing Extraordinary Things, because I could not stop noticing how much beauty, courage, devotion, and brilliance was moving through the lives of people no one was writing about.

Dancers who made something luminous out of very little. Nurses who held life and death in their hands through a pandemic and then went home to make dinner. Spiritual leaders whose work made room for me before I knew how to make room for myself. I was not documenting achievement, but honoring a greater Spirit inside each of us, something that connects us all.

What I understood later is that this presence was never limited to the people I was interviewing. It lives in all of us. The extraordinary thing was never the accomplishment, but the aliveness underneath it.

It also came from trying to birth something I felt in the world before I could see it, a vision of what enriches and enlivens the human spirit, and of what we are capable of when we stop managing ourselves and begin listening inward.

The Infinite Heart is not a departure from where this started, but the name of the well I was pointing at the whole time.

The throughline

Four chapters, one movement.

01

Ordinary Humans Doing Extraordinary Things

Recognizing the dignity, courage, contribution, and brilliance already moving through the lives of people living real lives.

02

Becoming

Naming my own movement beyond constricting identities, habitual thought, and inherited stories.

03

Becoming More

An iteration of becoming, named while I was feeling further into what becoming actually asks. It was called Becoming More, and it was also becoming less, the part that is releasing. It was about our individual and collective becomings, and how these shape one another.

04

The Infinite Heart

The deepest and truest root. We consciously expand by witnessing the infinite source of love and intelligence that dwells within us, and by learning to live, create, relate, celebrate, and care from it.

Our ethos

Not community as audience building, but community as the lived experience of mutual recognition.

Seen

Their life, experience, dignity, and particular gifts matter.

Known

No performance of a false identity in order to belong.

Loved

Not as an abstract ideal, but through presence, attention, generosity, and welcome.

Enlivened

Connected to more than fear, self-criticism, old stories, and the noise of thought.

Connected

To the source within themselves, and to the humanity in one another.

Creative

Able to participate in life, not merely cope with it.

Integrated

Living with greater integrity across spirit, body, relationship, vocation, art, joy, and care.

How the work takes form

One center, several expressions. The spiritual dimension is not a category alongside the others, but the ground they all grow from.

Writing

Essays, reflections, and language for experiences people feel but may not yet know how to name.

Conversation

Public dialogue with people whose lives reflect a living relationship with presence.

Gathering

Rooms where people meet one another with attention and generosity. The Heart Forum is where this takes shape.

Speaking

Keynotes and facilitated conversations that bring the work into organizations, institutions, and public gatherings.

Culture

The ways this presence shows up in how we make things, host one another, and mark what matters.
